Clay Wicker is a craft beer convert. This former light-beer tester resisted sampling craft beer for a while – but eventually a friend convinced him he was missing out on flavor. “I tried some, and I actually liked it,” Wicker said.
It wasn’t long before Wicker decided to try his hand at home brewing. He bought a beginner’s kit and made his first batch. “I found I really enjoyed the process of making beer, and, the product turned out better than I expected,” he said.
That was the beginning of a journey – creating a local craft beer company called Cycler’s Brewing. Today, Cyclers offers several styles of beer, including the Breakaway IPA, Dom’e’stique Wit, Ryed Hard IPA, 55-11 Imperial Red and Palmarès Russian Imperial Stout.
Silver Eagle Distributors now distributes Cycler’s Brewing products which are available in draft form. “We’re committed to making high quality products that will tantalize your pallet,” Wicker said. We want to continue to explore new styles that will intrigue. The brewery is just north of Montgomery – but the facility is not open to the public.
Fortunately for beer aficionados who would like to sample Wicker’s unique recipes, Cycler’s Brewing will be back again and setting up a tent at the 15th Annual Spring Home and Garden Show in The Woodlands. Wicker said he hopes to win a few more fans for craft beer. “The main thing is for them to experience craft beer and open up their palettes,” he said.
The Cycler’s Brewing Beer Tasting Tent will be open Noon to 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday of the show.
