Texans Can Claim Their Money at the Show |
|
Staff members from the Texas Comptroller’s Unclaimed Property Division will help people search for unclaimed property online, fill out claim forms and answer questions about the unclaimed property program.
Unclaimed Property representatives will be available at the show.
“The current balance in the state’s unclaimed property fund is approximately $2.5 billion,” said Texas Comptroller Susan Combs. “That money belongs to Texans, and it is important that we get it back into the right hands. Events like this enable us to educate people about forgotten funds, and encourage them to check the Unclaimed Property List often.”
The Comptroller estimates that one in four Texans has money waiting to be claimed. Unclaimed property includes forgotten utility deposits or other refunds, insurance proceeds, mineral interest or royalty payments, dormant bank accounts and abandoned safe deposit box contents.
To search for unclaimed property any time, visit the Comptroller’s unclaimed property web site at www.ClaimItTexas.org or call (800) 654-FIND (3463). |
